Barbell Piercings
The barbell piercing is one of the most common types of piercing jewelry. This body jewelry looks like a small dumbbell. The highly versatile barbell is a straight piercing bar decorated at both ends. The ends of the barbell can be shaped in many different ways. The attachments in our shop range from simple balls, flowers, and stars to more unusual designs like eyeballs, dice, or fish scales. Barbell Piercing Materials
The popular barbell bars are available in many different materials. Barbell Piercing Sizes
Barbells can be used for many piercing placements. Basically, the straight piercing bar can be inserted into almost any piercing channel that hasn't been pierced through a curved body part. This includes, for example, ear piercings, tongue piercings, nipple piercings, and many types of intimate piercings. Barbells are most commonly used as jewelry for tongue and nipple piercings.
In these various body parts, the barbell is used in different sizes. Normal ear piercings such as the helix piercing are often adorned with barbells with a bar length of 6 - 8 mm. The barbell is particularly popular as the initial jewelry after piercing. The somewhat more specialized industrial barbell piercing goes through two piercing spots in the ear and is connected with an extra-long barbell bar starting at 30 mm. Barbell bars from 16 mm are common for tongue piercings, while barbells with a length of about 12 - 14 mm are typically used for nipple piercings.

Barbell Piercing Closures
Both ends of the barbell jewelry can be attached to the barbell bar using different closure types. Internal and external threading are the most well-known thread types for this body jewelry. However, the innovative push-in system is also becoming an increasingly popular closure for the barbell.
The internal thread and the push-in system offer a particular advantage here. Both closure types cause minimal irritation to the piercing site, as only the smooth piercing bar is inserted into the piercing channel. With internal threading, the grooves used to screw on the decorative closure ball are located on the attachment, so they don't irritate the piercing channel. The ball of the push-in system has no grooves for screwing; it is held inside the piercing bar solely by pressure. This makes the push-in piercing especially gentle.
