CBR Rings

The captive bead ring, short CBR piericng, belongs to one of the many piercing ring types. The special thing about this type of ring is the fastener, which works with a ball and the tension it creates. This is why this piercing ring is also known as a clamping ball ring. BCR ring (Ball Closure Ring) is also a popular name for this piercing jewellery.

In our shop you will find a large selection of ball closure rings. These are available in plain as well as in fancy designs. Simple CBR Piercing Ring usually have only one colour and only discreetly emphasise the piercing area. More striking clamp ball rings, on the other hand, often have larger balas in contrasting colours. CBR rings with a hematite ball, for example, offer a special look due to the different colours. CBR rings with pendants on the clamp ball also offer an exciting look and underline your unique personality. The CBR rings have pendants in various motives such as skulls, cubes or hearts. In addition to simple captive beads, we also have interesting beads in different shapes such as spikes. Captive bead rings with beads set with zirconia, ferido or opal stones highlight the body part and let you shine. Captive bead rings with rope-like textures add a unique touch to the piercing ring.

CBR ring sizes

CBR rings can be used in many different piercing locations. Popular places where captive bead rings are used are for example the ears. Especially for the Helix Piercing and the Daith Piercing this ring type is very popular. The size of the CBR rings for ear piercings is small to medium. Typically, clamp ball rings with an inner diameter of about 8 mm - 10 mm are used. The bar thickness is about 1.2 mm - 1.6 mm.

Captive bead rings are also popular for wearing on the nose. The nostril and the septum are the most popular Nose Piercing types that are decorated with BCR rings. For the nostril, rings with a diameter of 6 mm - 8 mm are common, while for the Septum Piercing the diameter of the rings can be around 8 mm to 12 mm. The standard bar thickness for the nose is 1.0 mm - 1.2 mm.

CBR rings are also often used on the lips. Here the ring nestles around the lip, while the ball emphasises the piercing. The diameter of the rings here is about 8 mm - 10 mm. The bar thickness is usually about 1.2 mm. AN Eyebrow Piercing can also be decorated with CBR ring. The size of the eyebrow CBR rings is similar to that of the lips.

CBR rings are also used for nipple piercings and many types of intimate piercings. A Nipple Piercing often use rings with a diameter of about 10 mm - 12 mm. For an Intimate Piercing, slightly larger clamp ball rings are usually used. The diameter can range from 10 mm to 22 mm. The exact size depends on the type of intimate piercing.

The ball size of Ball Closure Rings range from a dainty 2 mm to large 12 mm balls. Rings with small inner diameters usually also have smaller balls, while larger rings have larger balls. The ball sizes for the individual body parts depend largely on one's own preference.

CBR ring closure type

The locking mechanism of a CBR ring works in a special way. On the clamping ball there are two small notches in which the ends of the ring opening can be snapped into. Once the ring is in the small holes in the ball, the CBR ring is held in place by the tension. This even allows the bead to be rotated without falling off the ring.

When opening a captive bead ring, the ring is not pulled apart. Instead, one end of the Ring is pushed down while the other end is pulled up. This way, the bead easily detaches from the ring and the shape of the ring does not become bent either. When closing, one end of the ring is placed in the notch in the ball, while a slight outward pressure is applied to the other end until the ring locks into the notch.

Changing CBR rings can take some time getting used to for beginners. First you should practise opening and closing the clamping ring without inserting it directly into the piercing site. After that, it should be easier to insert the jewellery into the piercing. However, this process can be made much easier with the help of clamping ball pliers. With these special pliers, you can grip the CBR ring precisely and open or close it. If it is not possible to change the ring with the fingers or with the pliers, the CBR ring can also be inserted by the piercer.

CBR ring materials

A CBR piercing can be made of different materials. The most popular materials are titanium, 14 carat gold and surgical steel. All three metals offer their own advantages. The Titanium Piercing is particularly suitable for allergy sufferers due to its nickel-free composition. The low weight of titanium CBR piercing jewellery also makes it very comfortable to wear. 14 carat Gold Piercing allow for a particularly elegant look. The highly polished, shiny surface creates a glamorous piercing look. Surgical steel CBR rings are also very compatible. Surgical Steel Piercing jewellery also does not discolour and cannot rust.
